Our People
Jeffery L. Shaw (Extension 101) is a Certified Public Accountant with 30 years of experience. Jeff graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He has worked for large public accounting firms and spent 10 years in the automobile industry. In 1988 Jeff started his own accounting firm and his clients include auto dealerships, contractors, various types of small businesses and many individual and corporate tax clients. During the last several years he has spent considerable time working and consulting with auto dealerships. Jeff is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Justin R. Shaw (Extension 103) is a Certified Public Accountant with 16 years of experience. Justin graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and a Master of Professional Accountancy (Tax Emphasis). He has worked in industry and with a large, local accounting firm. Justin currently serves on the Non-Profit Committee of the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants and is a member of the Utah Nonprofits Association. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Justin is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
Dan Mumford (Extension 104) is a Certified Public Accountant with 20 years of experience. He provides technical tax compliance, research and planning services for small to large multi-state businesses and to many industries. His emphasis is in pass-through taxation providing services to minimize his client’s overall tax situation. Dan graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and a Master of Professional Accountancy, Tax Emphasis.

Todd Gordon (Extension 112) is a Certified Public Accountant with 14 years of experience, many of which have been with international and national accounting firms. He has been a national trainer on numerous subjects. He has extensive experience in many industries, including technology, software, manufacturing, auto dealerships, service industries, homeowners’ associations, non-profits and employee benefit plans. He focuses on attest work, i.e., audits, reviews, and compilations of various organizations and on CFO / Controller outsourcing. Todd holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in accounting from Brigham Young University.
Jonathan A. Shaw (Extension 107) is a tax manager with eight years of experience. Jon graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors in Accounting and graduated from Weber State University with a Masters of Professional Accountancy (Tax Emphasis). Jon worked at a regional accounting firm before joining the firm in 2005. Jon specializes in small business taxation, payroll and accounting and has worked extensively with the taxation and accounting in the automobile dealership industry. Jon has expertise in using QuickBooks.
John Gwynn (Extension 108) is a Certified Public Accountant who completed his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Utah. Prior to joining the firm in 2007, he was over the accounting department for a publicly traded company. He specializes in the auditing of private companies, employee benefit plans, and non-profit organizations.
Shalaun Howell (Extension 111) is a Certified Public accountant with seven years of experience. She graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Accounting (Summa cum laude) and a Master of Professional Accountancy (Tax Emphasis). Currently, Shalaun provides auditing and tax compliance services, specializing in nonprofits and employee benefit plans. She has also worked as an internal auditor for a large public company where she planned and performed internal and contract audits and designed internal control structures and testing for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Reed Nielsen (Extension 105) is a tax staff person and has been employed by ShawMumford & Co. P.C. for two years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Taxation from Weber State University. Reed is involved with the preparation of individual, partnership, and corporate income tax returns. He also participates in auto dealership consulting as well as tax planning.
Jamie Cypers (Extension 109) is a Certified Public Accounant who graduated from Weber State University with a Masters in Accounting, emphasis in Tax in 2002. She has worked for another CPA firm for nearly ten years prior to joining our firm in 2010. Jamie prepares and reviews individual, partnership, corporate, and trust tax returns.
Our History
Jeffrey L. Shaw started the firm in 1988 with a Partner and a secretary. The firm has grown gradually over the years into what it is today-four partners, five professionals and two administrative persons. Most of the growth has come through referrals from existing clients in our three areas of emphasis-automotive, non-profit and income taxes. The firm practiced in Salt Lake City for the first ten years and has been located in Bountiful since 1998.
Our Credentials
We are a Bountiful firm of certified public accountants that provides consulting, tax, accounting, and audit services for a large variety of clients. These services are performed by professionals, who have accumulated in excess of 60 years of experience providing high-quality, professional services to clients. Our backgrounds include national firm experience and training, as well as extensive experience with our own firm. The firm consists of four partners, six professional staff members, and a secretary. Our partners and all CPA’s at the firm are members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Our partners are also members of the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants (UACPA).
